IIRA - Projects

International Institute of River Affairs (SAIARD-IIRA) implements diverse and interdisciplinary project initiatives focused on river systems, water resources, environment, climate change, and public health. These projects address key themes such as river basin and watershed management, river–people partnerships, climate resilience, environmental pollution, occupational and public health linkages, and nature-based solutions. Emphasis is placed on applied research, field-based assessments, and policy-oriented studies that respond to contemporary environmental and developmental challenges.

SAIARD-IIRA’s initiatives are strongly rooted in collaboration and capacity building, engaging government agencies, academic institutions, research organizations, civil society groups, and local communities. Through action research, training programmes, academic–community interfaces, and digital knowledge platforms, the Institute promotes evidence-based decision-making and inclusive governance. These project interventions aim to strengthen sustainable river management, enhance community resilience, and support informed policy formulation at regional and national levels.
