Sarayu River Research Laboratory (SRRL) is a pioneering initiative established through a collaboration between the International Institute of River Affairs (IIRA) and the Department of Environmental Science of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, Ayodhya, to serve as a regional centre of excellence for river research, governance, and sustainable water resource management in Uttar Pradesh. Envisioned as a multidisciplinary platform, SRRL aims to promote scientific research, geospatial analysis, policy studies, capacity building, community engagement, and knowledge dissemination related to the Sarayu River Basin and other river systems of the region. The laboratory will facilitate collaborations among researchers, policymakers, government agencies, academic institutions, and local communities to address contemporary challenges such as river pollution, climate change impacts, floodplain management, biodiversity conservation, and river rejuvenation. Through research-driven and evidence-based approaches, SRRL seeks to contribute to the advancement of sustainable river governance and the preservation of riverine ecosystems for future generations.
